I was so grossed out to catch my husband peeing in the bathroom sink! I yelled at him for doing it and pointed him to the toilet. We just had our bathroom redone and I suppose he thinks it is a urinal. How can I stop such disgusting behavior. He wears Depends, but I am thankful that he still uses the bathroom on his own. I cannot watch him every single minute. Does anyone have any good ideas. He doesn't read signs, so that won't work either.
Could the height of the sink have something to do with it? Maybe he finds it easier on his back or his knees to pee in the sink rather than in the toilet. You have to pick your battles. This doesn't seem so terribly horrible to me, but then I'm a live-and-let-live kind of person who's seen a lot of disgusting behavior in my life, and sink-peeing doesn't particularly bother me. Feces are another thing entirely. I would go ballistic if I found a turd in the sink or the shower.
I suppose you could put something over the sink to prevent him from peeing in it.
I think that I would keep a container of Lysol wipes near the sink and wipe it down, after he exits. You could keep disposable gloves there, too.
In a NH (and in my home) the toilets are in separate rooms, from a sink. It seems like a good idea, now. Good luck with your husband. My FIL had ALZ. and I don't know how his wife kept him at home. She was 80, herself.
Sigh.
Thanks for answers that cheered me up!
