We have so many sad stories on this forum I thought I'd share a story that made me smile this morning. I was waiting for my appointment at my hair salon and was sitting next to a very trendy, hipster young man who was looking at his phone. This is a high end salon that has a very mixed clientele - older ladies from the neighborhood (me), young, trendy, professional women and young, hipster men. I figured he was also waiting on his appointment. There was an older woman sitting at the salon station in front of us getting her hair blown out and chatting with the stylist. When she was done the young man stood up. I assumed he was the next client for that stylist. Suddenly the older woman cried out "Where is he? Where is he?" and as she tries to stand I realize that she is quite crippled and is very confused. Her stylist calmly says "Your grandson is right here. He always waits for you. Don't be worried," He says "Grandma I'm right here. I'm right here. and your hair looks beautiful." He tips the stylist and goes to pay and make next month's appointment. Everyone says "See you next month." I wish we could all have this grandson or someone like him in our lives.

His parents brought him up right!!

when our Moms were still around, I told my child to see either grandma once a week, and I suggested visiting the one who could actually talk and make conversation.

Glad grandson has the opportunity to have quality time with grandma.

Visiting is great idea. Supplement it with recording the grandparents history. I wish I had.

An inspiring story which is heartfelt for those who experienced this time and leaves one with the hope we might have a person one day down the line who feels that we matter and would greatly appreciate any care shown.

there is an old saying..you determine if it is true or not...
The reason Grand parents and grand children get along so well is...they have a "common enemy" ;)

Great idea!
Btw. I’m child free and remote caregiver for my mother who still lives independently across the bay from me. We had a rocky relationship ever since I can remember and now as a caregiver, isn’t always easy to maintain a neutral position, still things manage to work out.

Today I’ll be visiting her and she is taking me out to the local burrito place for Mother’s Day. Yes, I called it and she laughed.

Happy Mother’s Day to everyone, today and everyday. Treat yourself well for all you do!

🥰🥰🥰🥰👍🏻 Thanks for sharing.

I saw a delightful situation the other morning. A man in his 50s or 60s is helping an older gentleman into the construction truck. As he was doing this, he was talking very gently And in short simple sentences. He told Him that he was going to be the foreman today. And all the staff are going to take his direction. that he tells his grandson all about his day afterwards and that his grandson is very proud of him.
It was so heart warming ❤️

I got a very touching text this Mothers Day from a friend of mine. (I have no children)

It read "To a friend who is a wonderful daughter and now a Mom to her Mom."

Please pass it on to your friends in the same boat........I was moved to tears....
