Since the past few months, I have been having troubles with my vision especially in the night. Everything appears to have a glare around it, especially bright lights. I have trouble looking at the sunlight too. I had my eyes checked by an eye doctor who said that I have Keratoconus. Does anybody know of any latest treatments for Keratoconus?
Keratoconus is a condition where your cornea thins out and bulges out. Treatment options for Keratoconus include Glasses / Rigid Gas Permeable Contact Lenses / Piggyback Lenses / Scleral Contact Lenses, Intra Stromal Rings, Corneal Transplant (partial / entire) and Collagen Cross Linking.
The latest in Keratoconus treatment includes Collagen Cross Linking by a new technique using Avedro’s KXL System. This technique reduces the time required for the procedure from one hour to just a few minutes. Also, the cornea can be strengthened using this technique without removing the corneal epithelium or the outer layer of the cornea. Thinner corneas that were earlier unsuitable for cross linking can now undergo this treatment thanks to this new technology.
