My mother and dad have been in this assisted living facility for a 2 years. I had planned on moving them to a more skilled facility when my mother took a severe turn for the worse. She has been in and out of the hospital for the last 3 months. She is now in a hospice program at the AL facility. The hospice nurses suggest 24/7 nursing care. When I contacted some of the Home Health Care facilities on their list - they said they do physical and occupation therapy and I should check
on companion care. Companion care says they don't do direct patient care.
Are there any other options besides moving her to a skilled nursing facility?
As we are shopping for memory care and assisted living we are trying to find a place that offers a continuum of care from assisted and memory to skilled nursing. With two octogenarians, one or the other is likely to need nursing home care. And it would be very difficult for them to see each other if separate facilities are necessary.
