It is like a cycle with my dad. It can be every 3 to 4 weeks that he sleeps very little and he is going through the motions like he is working on his ranch. But he really isn't doing anything. There are also times that he wants to go home but he is home. You can take him on a drive and he recognizes his house but then he is in the house for a little while and it starts all over again. Is this normal behavior? If so why is it like a cycle?

Does this happen with a full moon? I have a sister in law who cannot sleep during a full moon. Couple lunar influence with Alzheimer's and you have a perfect neurological storm. Rapidly falling barometric pressure, just before a storm, can also cause agitation in AD patients. This is not unnatural, and observations of wildlife will show many species more active in a full moon. Birds will load up at feeders when a storm approaches, dogs and cats will be hungry, then when the storm hits they hunker down, seek shelter and sleep. Why should humans be any different?

i do remember working for an affluent local farmer with alz a few years ago. his near 90 yr old wife kept him out of most mischief but occasionally hed flee to the pastures and trod around with the cattle. the family must have had a heck of an understanding about life and death and the dangers associated with each.
his wife lived to 99. i know i spin out. evelyn was pretty sexy ( and industrious ) up till 99.
