Wow Treeartist maybe I am the reason my husband has been able to live so long with pancreatic cancer! He never did chemo. Has no stress at all - just sits in bed and reads, is waited on hand and foot, all natural home cooked meals, lots of nutritional supplements. I read the book about how people now live longer with chronic illness - Last Rights by Stephen P. Kiernan. It is actually more unusual to die suddenly and more common to have a long chronic illness because of advances in medicine and medical care. I am now ordering my groceries online and pick them up so I don't have to be gone that long, I have a nanny cam so I can see him in bed when I am gone to my mothers and I am looking forward to self driving cars and online drs appointments.
I think it is time to plan for this caregiving to go on much longer than expected and figure out ways to make life easier. Going out to eat and going somewhere for vacation is so overrated. Virtual reality vacation is on the horizon. Thankfully my GP put me on Zoloft years ago - it really works.

Lamalover 47: She is on Armour Thyroid and has her blood checked routinely. But she was allergic to Levothyroxine in the end and we're glad she doesn't take it any longer. If it works for you, I'm very glad. The side effects seem to be hit and miss. Some people get them, some don't. Glad you can tolerate it and it helps you. :)

Yeah my moms on Armour Thyroid - she can't tolerate Levothyrosine. However my sister and I are able to take Levo. I think since she was started on Armour ages ago that's just what she's used to.

RuthWantsToKnow: Okay, good luck then. Thyroid disorders are generally hereditary, like mine.
